TTC Line 1 Closes Early Between St Clair and College Through September 18
Toronto subway riders travelling late at night should plan for shuttle buses on a central stretch of Line 1 this week. Service between St Clair and College stations ends at 11:59 p.m. nightly from Monday, September 14, through Friday, September 18, 2026, while crews complete planned track work.
The closure cuts through one of the Yonge line’s busiest downtown sections and affects trips through Summerhill, Rosedale, Bloor-Yonge and Wellesley. Regular subway service is scheduled to resume at approximately 6 a.m. each morning.

The TTC says the work is intended to help remove restricted-speed zones northbound between Bloor-Yonge and Rosedale and southbound between Wellesley and College by early October. Summerhill and Rosedale stations will close during the affected hours. At Wellesley Station, the Dundonald Street entrance will also be closed. The other stations in the closure area will remain open so riders can load a PRESTO card or ticket and connect with surface routes.

The Weekend Closure Comes Next
The nightly shutdown rolls directly into a full weekend closure on the same section. Line 1 trains will not run between St Clair and College on Saturday, September 19, or Sunday, September 20. Shuttle buses are scheduled to replace trains throughout the weekend, and regular service is expected to resume at approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, September 21.
