Riu Plaza to Open First Canadian Hotel in Downtown Toronto This September

Luxury hotel brand Riu Plaza is officially opening its first Canadian location this fall, and it’s coming to the heart of downtown Toronto.

A Long-Awaited Arrival

Originally announced in 2019 and initially set for a 2021 debut, the Riu Plaza Toronto faced multiple delays due to the pandemic and construction setbacks. Now, the Spain-based hotel group has confirmed it will welcome guests starting September 2025.

This new hotel joins 11 other Riu Plaza properties in global cities like New York, London, and Berlin.

Inside the Toronto Riu Plaza Hotel

Located at 30 Widmer Street, the hotel is part of the Theatre District Residence complex and occupies the lower levels of one of the twin towers. Just steps away from iconic spots like the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, and Princess of Wales Theatre, the hotel is positioned for both tourists and business travelers.

The Toronto location will feature:

• 352 rooms, including different suite tiers
• A 24-hour gym
• A lobby bar
• Complimentary buffet breakfast
• A meeting room for business guests
• Free Wi-Fi and modern in-room amenities
