Written and directed by Niki Byrne, The Julia Set made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11. The premiere screening took place at the Visa Screening Room at the Princess of Wales Theatre on King Street West.
The coming-of-age drama stars Chase Infiniti as Julia, a gifted mathematics student. Christopher Briney plays Pascal, a teaching assistant who brings Julia into an elite group preparing for the challenging Putnam mathematics competition.
The ensemble also includes Chloe Bailey, Jason Isaacs, Gillian Anderson, Nina Hoss, Carmen Ejogo and Nico Hiraga.

Once the premiere wrapped, the night moved a few blocks into the heart of King West.
Beso by Patria hosted the film’s premiere celebration, with BOSS behind the event. Editorial coverage from the evening shows Chase Infiniti, Jason Isaacs, Nico Hiraga and Chloe Bailey among those attending the party. Christopher Briney also appeared at the BOSS-hosted celebration.

What Is The Julia Set About?
At the centre of the film is Julia, a talented student whose mathematical ability has often been something she keeps to herself.
That changes when Pascal notices her talent and pulls her into a competitive mathematics program. As Julia prepares for the Putnam Exam, ambition, romance and competition begin to collide.
For Byrne, the film also marks her feature directorial debut. She has described the concept as taking the structure of a sports movie and applying it to competitive mathematics.
