Amazon Is Giving Away Free Bananas in Toronto Every Wednesday
Free bananas in Toronto are now part of the Wednesday morning commute. Amazon launched a weekly public giveaway at its Scotia Plaza office on October 14, 2026.

Each Wednesday, visitors can stop by from 8:30 a.m. to collect a banana while supplies last. The offer is open to anyone passing through downtown, not only Amazon employees.
The snacks come with a small extra for dog walkers, too. The team keeps dog treats on hand for people visiting with their pets.

Where To Find The Banana Stand
Amazon’s Toronto banana stand is at Scotia Plaza, 40 King Street West, in the Financial District. The giveaway uses the Adelaide Street entrance, rather than the building’s King Street side.
Scotia Plaza connects with Toronto’s underground PATH network. Still, the King Street address alone doesn’t identify the right entrance, so head towards Adelaide Street West.
If you’re already commuting through the area, you can work the stop into your morning route. Travelling only for the freebie? Keep the limited supply in mind before making a special trip.
How the Wednesday Giveaway Works
This is a walk-up community program, not a coupon promotion. Visitors can accept a banana from an Amazon ambassador, with no purchase attached.
The ambassadors go by the name “Banistas.” They distribute the fruit and greet people who stop by the stand.
Amazon has confirmed the 8:30 a.m. start but has not announced a fixed closing time. The media announcement says bananas will be available while supplies last, so later arrivals may miss out.
The company has also described banana bikes serving streets around its offices in Toronto and Vancouver. It hasn’t published a separate Toronto route or timetable, so the confirmed location remains Scotia Plaza.
Dog Walkers Can Stop By, Too
People out with their dogs can make the stop. Amazon says its team keeps dog treats available for pups accompanying their owners.
The canine extra is part of the same community stand, not a separate pet event. Amazon hasn’t listed treat varieties or ingredients, so owners who need those details should ask on site.
How The Banana Stand Reached Canada
The idea began in Seattle in 2015. According to Amazon, anyone passing its Seattle offices could pick up a free banana, even without working there.
The format later spread to other cities. Toronto and Vancouver became the program’s first Canadian sites on October 14, 2026.
In Vancouver, the weekly stand operates at Amazon’s The Post office. Like Toronto, it starts at 8:30 a.m. local time on Wednesdays.
Amazon describes the giveaway as a way to build connections between its offices and surrounding communities. It also says leftover fruit is donated or composted rather than discarded.
What to Know Before Stopping By
The Toronto stand runs on Wednesdays, with fruit handed out until supplies run out. Amazon hasn’t announced an end date for the program or a set time for the final handout each week.
There’s no ticket to buy or special occasion to plan around. If you’re stopping by, use the Adelaide Street entrance and aim for the morning.
