Organized by Toronto Arts Foundation, the gala follows the Mayor’s Evening for the Arts VIP dinner. This year’s theme, Art Is Human Nature, puts the people behind the city’s arts community at the centre.

Ticket sales will support programs that connect local artists with audiences and bring arts programming into Toronto neighbourhoods.

The OBGMs And Zoon Headline The Gala

Toronto punk band The OBGMs will take the main stage for a live set, according to the event announcement. Actor, creator and comedian Amanda Cordner is set to host the night’s program.

In The Carlu’s Round Room, Indigenous musician Daniel Monkman will perform as Zoon alongside a two-piece ensemble. Zoon’s ‘moccasin-gaze’ sound brings shoegaze influences together with Indigenous musical expression.

The lineup spans multiple rooms, giving guests different ways to engage with the performers throughout the night. Music is only one part of the program, with installations and art-making activities taking place nearby.

Art Installations Take Over The Carlu

The Sky Room will offer a quieter look at the work Toronto Arts Foundation supports year-round. The space will feature artist-created plates from the history of the Foundation’s awards and stories from neighbourhood arts programs.

An Arts in the Parks Listening Booth will bring voices and sounds from free performances across the city into the room. Visitors can also see work by newcomer artist Leila Refahi and installation artist Roda Medhat.

Another work on display will be Embrace, a large-scale sculpture by Canadian artist and designer Will Cuthbert. First shown at Winter Stations 2026, the piece depicts two open hands and changes visually as people walk around it.

Guests can make their own pressed-flower cards at an activity led by Blossom & Press. Fashion Art Toronto will also return with live fashion illustration, adding another chance to watch artists work in real time.

Toronto Arts Foundation also lists snacks and an open bar among the public gala offerings. The organization encourages attendees to dress creatively for the occasion.

The Earlier VIP Dinner Features Dance And Musical Theatre

Before the public gala, the Mayor’s Evening for the Arts will hold its VIP reception and dinner. Reception doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner begins at 6 p.m.

Indigenous tap dancer Johnny Morin will perform alongside a live musical duet during the reception. Later, the dinner program will present excerpts from two Canadian stage works.

It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken is a new musical written by Ahmed Moneka and Jesse LaVercombe. It uses songs by The Tragically Hip in a story about friendship, belonging and finding home in Canada.

Rock Bottom Movement will present an excerpt from Landslide, choreographed by Alyssa Martin. The dance-theatre work looks at parenthood, desire and expectation through movement and a score inspired by Fleetwood Mac.

These dinner performances belong to the earlier VIP program, not the general-admission gala lineup. Guests interested in the later event can book tickets specifically for (In) Bloom.

How The Night Supports Toronto Artists

Toronto Arts Foundation works alongside Toronto Arts Council to expand opportunities for artists and make arts programming more accessible. Its work includes Arts in the Parks and support for Black, newcomer and emerging artists.

The Foundation says the Mayor’s Evening for the Arts raises more than $1 million each year. It also says all ticket proceeds from the public gala go directly towards its programs.

This year’s theme connects those fundraising goals with the people who make art possible. Foundation director and CEO Kelly Langgard has emphasized the roles of artists, audiences and communities in sustaining the arts.
