TTC Reports Delays on Line 1 and Line 2 Due to Weather Conditions
Toronto commuters faced delays on the TTC’s Line 1 and part of Line 2 on Wednesday morning as weather-related issues disrupted service. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) cited icy rails and extreme weather conditions as the primary causes.

Current Status of TTC Service
- Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth):
Service between Woodbine and Kennedy stations briefly shut down due to icy rail conditions but resumed around 7 a.m.
Shuttle buses served passengers during the closure.
Commuters can also use GO Transit at Main Street and Kennedy stations for the cost of a TTC fare. - Line 1 (Yonge-University):
Delays of up to 10 minutes are affecting service between Vaughan and Finch stations.
The TTC attributed these delays to extreme wind and blowing snow disrupting operations at Wilson Yard.
Currently, 37 of the 55 scheduled trains are running on this line.
Weather Impact and Crew Efforts
Toronto is still recovering from back-to-back snowstorms that blanketed the city last week. The icy rails and strong winds have complicated train yard operations.
TTC crews continue working under challenging conditions to increase the number of operational trains. “Crews are working hard in brutal conditions to get more trains out,” the TTC stated.
Recent Service Disruptions
This marks the second weather-related shutdown of the week:
- On Monday, service on Line 1 was suspended between Bloor-Yonge and Eglinton stations due to ice on the rails.
- Service resumed that afternoon after crews cleared the affected tracks.
What Commuters Should Know
- Plan extra travel time: Delays may last up to 10 minutes on affected lines.
- Check for updates: Visit the TTC’s website or social media for real-time information.
- Alternative options: Use GO Transit at select stations or consider shuttle services.
Weather-related delays continue to challenge Toronto’s transit system this week. While TTC crews work tirelessly to restore full service, commuters should stay informed and plan accordingly.
