More than a week after a mass shooting injured 12 people at its Scarborough location, Piper Arms has released a statement expressing shock and sadness. The shooting took place on March 7, 2025, during the pub’s grand opening at Scarborough Town Centre.
Piper Arms Condemns Violence, Expresses Gratitude
In a statement posted on Instagram, Piper Arms called the incident heartbreaking and reaffirmed its commitment to guest and staff safety.
“The safety of our guests and staff remains our top priority. We are cooperating fully with authorities as they investigate, and we are relieved that no lives were lost,” the statement read.
The pub condemned the violence, emphasizing that such actions have no place in the community. “Piper Arms has always been about bringing people together,” the statement added.
The pub also thanked customers, staff, and neighbors for their support. “We appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us and remain dedicated to serving our community with the same hospitality and care that define us.”
Investigation Ongoing, No Arrests Made
Toronto police have not made any arrests and have not released descriptions of the suspects. According to police, three masked men entered the pub with an assault rifle and two handguns before opening fire on the crowd. Seven people were shot, while five others suffered injuries from flying glass.
Authorities described the attack as indiscriminate, with bullets striking windows, drywall, and a flat-screen TV inside the newly renovated pub.
Police Committed to Finding Suspects
Investigators continue working around the clock, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. In a statement released Tuesday, police confirmed they are pursuing all leads to identify the shooters.
“Officers have been working around the clock—gathering evidence, speaking with witnesses, and pursuing every lead to identify and locate those responsible,” the statement said. Police assured the public that they would provide updates as soon as possible.
