What Is Elora’s Longest BBQ?

The name may sound like one grill running through town, but the setup is closer to a large outdoor food market.

Restaurants, chefs and drink vendors will set up across the downtown event area. Guests can buy smaller servings from several stations instead of ordering one full meal from a single restaurant.

More than 25 food and drink vendors are expected to attend. The current program also includes a beer garden, a wood-fired oven, live music and children’s art and food classes led by the Elora Centre for the Arts.

The official menu includes beef birria tacos, smoked chicken wings, brisket sliders, chicken gyros, pizzetta, chicken skewers and poutine sliders. More dishes, desserts and drinks are listed on the organizer’s current chef and menu page.

Vegetarian and non-alcoholic choices will also be offered. Guests with allergies or other food needs should read the posted menus and speak directly with each vendor before ordering. Kitchens and food preparation areas may handle several ingredients.

Planning tip: Look through the menu before arriving and make a short list of the dishes you care about most. It can save you from spending half your tickets at the first two booths.

How Food and Drink Tickets Work

General admission is free, but guests need paid tickets for food and drinks.

Advance tickets can be purchased through the official event page until Saturday, July 25 at 11 p.m. A limited number will be sold at the event after online sales close.

Buying tickets before arriving may reduce the amount of time spent waiting in a sales line. That leaves more time for food, which is probably the reason most people are going.

The Elora BIA states that proceeds from food and drink sales support Food Day Canada and its work with Canadian farmers, ingredients and food businesses.

New Seafood Bar for 2026

The Seafood Bar is a new paid addition for the 2026 event. It will serve oysters, mussels and clams.

Access costs $30 per person and must be purchased separately from standard food and drink tickets. Only a limited number of passes are available.

Guests do not need a Seafood Bar pass to attend the main event. The regular vendor area, live music and family activities remain open to everyone.

Planning tip: Buy the pass in advance if seafood is a main reason for your visit. The organizer has not stated that extra passes will be held for walk-up guests.

Free Shuttle Service

A free public shuttle will carry guests between the parking area and the downtown event site. Some event pages may refer to the pickup point as Grand River Raceway, which shares the same property.

Paid street parking is also available around Elora. Spaces close to West Mill Street may fill early due to the expected crowd.

More than 10,000 guests are expected in 2026. The organizer’s main event page also reports that more than 12,000 attended the previous event.

Planning Tip: Use the free parking and shuttle rather than counting on a downtown spot. Save the parking address on your phone before leaving home.

Bring a Reusable Water Bottle

Guests should bring a reusable water bottle. Bottled water will not be sold at the event, but free refill stations will be placed throughout the site.

This is easy to miss while planning, but it can make a big difference during a busy outdoor food event in late July.

Alcoholic drinks will only be available to guests who meet Ontario’s legal drinking-age rules and provide valid identification.

What Happens During Bad Weather?

The backup date is Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

If extreme weather is expected, organizers plan to make a public announcement at 2 p.m. on July 28. Updates will be shared through the event website and official social pages.

Light rain may not lead to a date change, so guests should check the organizer’s latest post rather than assume the event has been cancelled.

How the BBQ Connects to Food Day Canada

Elora’s Longest BBQ is one of the kickoff events leading into Food Day Canada on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Food Day Canada was founded by Elora food writer and advocate Anita Stewart. The campaign focuses on Canadian farmers, fishers, chefs, home cooks, food makers and the ingredients produced across the country.

The Elora event is presented by Food Day Canada and Elora Mill, with support from volunteers, restaurants, farms, sponsors and local groups. It also gives smaller food businesses a chance to serve a crowd that is expected to reach more than 10,000 people.

Tips for Planning Your Visit to Elora’s Longest BBQ

The event has free entry, but a little planning will help.

Buy food tickets early, review the menu, save the shuttle address and bring a water bottle. Guests interested in the Seafood Bar should also book the separate pass before quantities run out.

The event area is spread through downtown Elora, so wear shoes that work for walking and standing. Arriving near the 4 p.m. opening may also help you check menus before the larger dinner crowd arrives.
