New Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream Tragically Hip Collab Hits Ontario Stores
When you crave a scoop of Kawartha Dairy ice cream, Tragically Hip tunes playing on the radio complete the perfect cottage country road trip. This summer, you can literally taste that iconic Canadian combination. Kawartha Dairy officially drops a brand new flavour called “The Tragically Chip” on June 22.
The beloved Bobcaygeon-based creamery teamed up with Canada’s favourite rock band to create this sweet tribute. As reported, a serendipitous chat between a local Bobcaygeon bar owner and the band’s lawyer sparked the entire collaboration.
Mike Crowe, the dairy’s director of product development, spearheaded the project. He aimed to capture the band’s complex, deeply Canadian, and slightly bittersweet essence in every single bite.

What Does The Tragically Chip Taste Like
You can expect a rich, mature flavour profile that perfectly fits a late-night dock hangout. The creamery went all out with premium ingredients for this special release.

Celebrating Major Milestones and Giving Back
The timing of this release carries heavy significance for both the brand and the band. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the picturesque village of Bobcaygeon.
Fans also recognize 2026 as the 10th anniversary of The Tragically Hip’s unforgettable farewell tour with the late Gord Downie. The band’s massive 1998 hit song “Bobcaygeon” permanently put the small cottage country town on the map for music lovers everywhere.
Furthermore, your sweet tooth supports an incredible charitable cause. Kawartha Dairy proudly pledges a portion of all The Tragically Chip sales to the Breakfast Club of Canada.
Where to Find the Limited Flavour
You do not need to drive all the way to Bobcaygeon to grab a carton. Starting June 22, shoppers can find The Tragically Chip across Ontario.
