Toronto Pearson Now Hosts Two Airbus A380 Giants—Here’s What That Means for Travelers
Toronto Pearson International Airport has reached a new aviation milestone. It now welcomes two Airbus A380 operators—Emirates and Etihad Airways—making it one of the few airports worldwide served by multiple superjumbo carriers.

This development boosts Toronto’s standing as a global hub for long-haul travel, especially to the Middle East and beyond. The A380, known as the largest passenger aircraft in the world, is a rare sight in North America due to its massive size and specialized airport requirements.
Etihad Launches A380 Flights to Toronto
Etihad officially began its A380 service between Abu Dhabi and Toronto on June 24, 2025. This marks Etihad’s first time operating the double-decker jet in Canada. The aircraft replaces a smaller model, increasing route capacity by 31 percent.
The plane features 486 seats across four classes:
- The Residence: A private three-room suite with a living room, bedroom, and shower
- First Apartments: Lie-flat beds with ottomans and privacy doors
- Business Studios: Sleek seats with aisle access and extra legroom
- Economy Smart Seats: Enhanced comfort with extra space
Etihad’s flights depart Abu Dhabi daily at 2:40 a.m., landing in Toronto at 9:00 a.m. Return flights leave Toronto at 1:40 p.m., arriving in Abu Dhabi at 11:00 a.m. the next day.

Emirates Continues Daily A380 Service from Dubai
Emirates has long been a familiar sight at Pearson, first introducing the A380 to Canada and expanding to daily service in 2023. Its version of the aircraft is renowned for luxury, especially in First Class, which features:
- Private suites
- Flat-bed seats with mood lighting
- Shower spas
- An onboard lounge and bar
- Zero-gravity recline seats
The sheer scale of the aircraft is staggering—it’s as long as two blue whales and as tall as five giraffes, weighing up to 575 tonnes.
Two A380s, One Airport, One Rare Moment

Both A380s now arrive in Toronto around the same time each day, with Etihad touching down at 9:00 a.m. and Emirates at 9:30 a.m. This marks the first time in three years that two different A380s regularly share the runway at Toronto Pearson.
Travelers and aviation enthusiasts alike can now witness two of the world’s most iconic aircraft side by side in Toronto—a rare and exciting sight in Canada’s skies.
