TTC Service Resumes After Fire at Ossington Station
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has restored Line 2 subway service following a track-level fire at Ossington Station on Wednesday morning. The fire, which was spotted around 6 a.m., led to a temporary shutdown between Keele and St. George stations.

Service Suspension and Recovery
During the disruption, the TTC deployed at least 40 shuttle buses to help commuters travel between the affected stations. Regular subway service resumed shortly before 8 a.m., allowing riders to return to their usual routes.
Weather Conditions Worsen Commute
The service suspension coincided with a winter weather travel advisory issued by Environment Canada. The agency warned that heavy snowfall and strong winds could cause delays on Toronto’s roads and public transit. On Tuesday night, the snowfall led to the closure of more than 50 bus stops across the city.
Concerns Over Recurring Issues
The incident comes amid growing concerns about TTC reliability. Earlier this week, two Toronto city councillors filed a motion calling for an investigation into recurring service disruptions. With increasing complaints about subway and bus delays, city officials are urging the TTC to address infrastructure concerns and improve response times.
Additional Delays on Line 1
While Line 2 service has been restored, the TTC has also warned passengers on Line 1 to expect delays. A signal issue between Dupont and Union stations may cause wait times of up to 10 minutes during the morning commute.
With winter weather continuing to impact transit, commuters are advised to check for TTC updates before heading out. The city’s transit agency remains under pressure to improve service reliability and reduce unplanned disruptions.
