Thousands of Torontonians planning to attend major summer events this weekend will need to rethink their travel routes, as the TTC prepares for a significant TTC subway closure. Due to scheduled maintenance, portions of the subway system will be shut down — and in one busy downtown stretch, there will be no shuttle buses provided.

This weekend, beginning at 11:00 p.m. Friday, subway service on Line 1 (Yonge-University) will be fully suspended between St. George and St. Andrew stations. This closure will remain in effect through the weekend, returning to regular service on Monday. Notably, no shuttle buses will operate for this section of Line 1 due to logistical limitations in the densely packed downtown corridor. As a result, commuters should use alternative routing options.

Saturday will also see a closure on Line 2 between Kipling and Keele stations for planned infrastructure work. Fortunately, shuttle bus service will be available for this route starting early Saturday. Service will resume normally by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
