Secondhand Dreamcar Brings New Album Get Ready to Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern
A nine-piece Edmonton band built for small, crowded rooms is bringing its new record to one of Queen West’s oldest stages. Secondhand Dreamcar will play the Horseshoe Tavern on Thursday, Oct 22, 2026, less than a month after releasing its sophomore album, Get Ready. Singer-songwriter Joe Nolan joins the bill.
The show starts at 8 p.m. and is limited to guests 19 and older with photo ID. Advance admission is $25 before fees and taxes; the venue artwork lists a $35 door price. Tickets are available through the Horseshoe Tavern’s official event page.
A Toronto stop built around Get Ready
Get Ready arrives on streaming platforms Friday, Sep 25, 2026. It follows Answer the Call, the band’s 2024 debut and a nominee for Blues Album of the Year at the 2026 JUNO Awards. The new album keeps the group’s focus on ensemble playing: soul and roots foundations, twin guitars, organ and a three-piece horn section working inside the same groove.
Secondhand Dreamcar recorded most of the album live off the floor at Riverdale Recorders in Edmonton. Harry Gregg, Jamie Cooper and Dana Wylie produced it; Gregg mixed the record, and Philip Shaw Bova handled mastering. Peter Filice, Dave Babcock and Bob Tildesley wrote the horn arrangements.
The nine-track sequence opens with “It’s All the Same,” followed by songs including “Take Your Mind Off It, Baby,” “Where All the Time Has Gone” and the title track. Three tracks are available ahead of release on the band’s official Get Ready album page, where the record can also be pre-ordered digitally, on CD or on vinyl.
Nine musicians, one live-room approach
Fronted by Dana Wylie on vocals and keys, Secondhand Dreamcar includes Harry Gregg on bass, Jamie Cooper on drums, Kyle Mosiuk and Chad Murphy on guitar, Rooster Davis on organ, Dave Babcock on saxophone, Bob Tildesley on trumpet and Peter Filice on trombone. The arrangement explains the band’s scale without turning the music into a wall of sound: the rhythm section leaves space for the horns, while Wylie’s voice stays at the centre.
That setup also gives the Toronto date a clear purpose. Get Ready was designed to retain the push and timing of a live set, and the Horseshoe’s back room puts the group in close range of the audience. Joe Nolan, another Alberta songwriter with a blues and folk foundation, provides a leaner contrast on the same bill.
