Scarborough Spots is closing its flagship store at Eglinton Square Mall, nearly three years after it first opened. The Instagram account-turned-store sells Scarborough-themed merchandise, accessories and gifts. Owner Jesse Asido told blogTO that the decision to close was “tough,” citing several undisclosed factors. However, he said the brand is in talks with other malls, businesses and plazas. He plans to reopen somewhere by December 2026, in time for the holidays.

More Than a Store

Besides selling merchandise, the space also worked as a free art gallery for local artists. It also became a popular photo spot thanks to fixtures that mimic a subway station, including a payphone. Asido said many visitors are coming by to take one last photo before the space is painted over.

Why Eglinton Square

Asido said the mall is in the neighbourhood where his grandparents lived. In fact, the store took over a former Foot Locker space, where his cousin once worked.
