A&W Canada’s New Hot Honey BBQ Teen Burger Brings a Sweet Heat Twist to a Classic
The Hot Honey BBQ Teen Burger is now on A&W menus across Canada, giving the chain’s classic burger a sweet and spicy makeover. The limited-time burger launched on Thursday, Oct. 8. It was made in partnership with BBQ sauce brand Bull’s-Eye. The new burger keeps the usual Teen Burger toppings, but it adds a hot honey Bull’s-Eye BBQ sauce. What Is on the Burger?
The burger starts with A&W’s seasoned grass-fed beef patty. It is then topped with real cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion and tomato, just like a classic Teen Burger.
The big change is the sauce. The new hot honey Bull’s-Eye BBQ sauce mixes honey sweetness with mild heat and smoky BBQ flavour.
Why Hot Honey on a Burger?
Hot honey is usually found on fried chicken or pizza. However, A&W Canada says it wanted to bring that sweet heat to beef instead. Its senior director of innovation, Karan Suri, said the honey, heat and smokiness take the sweet-and-spicy trend to a new level.
The collab also brings some summer BBQ flavour into the fall. Rather than creating a brand-new burger, A&W simply gave one of its best-known items a new sauce.
About the Teen Burger
The Teen Burger first joined A&W’s menu in 1961, making it one of the chain’s longest-running items. A&W itself started in Winnipeg in 1956. Today, it has more than 1,000 restaurants across Canada.
