Crosstown Craft BBQ is finally opening its first restaurant. The Texas-style barbecue pop-up will open its doors at 51 Comstock Rd. in Scarborough on Saturday, November 7, 2026. For fans who have chased its pop-ups around the city, it means they can now find the barbecue in one place.

The new spot is in Scarborough’s Golden Mile area. It is also close to where the business held its very first pop-up.

From Pop-Up to Permanent Home

Pitmaster Ruben Silva runs Crosstown Craft BBQ with help from his family. Before this, the business grew through pop-ups that often sold out. Over time, it hosted more than a dozen pop-ups and served more than 1,000 people. Its online following also grew from about 400 to nearly 30,000.

“The support blew us away,” Silva told Toronto Life.

Finding the right space was not easy, though. “Barbecue is a different beast. You need serious ventilation, space for wood-fired smokers,” Silva told blogTO.

How Crosstown Craft BBQ Started

Silva learned the Texas style by travelling to Texas to study it. After that, he brought what he learned back to Toronto through his pop-ups. Soon, the lines got longer and the food often sold out.

The idea of a real restaurant came early. “We honestly started thinking about a permanent space not long after our first few pop-ups,” Silva told blogTO.

Now, that plan is finally coming true. “More than anything, it means we can keep doing what we love, in one place,” he said.

What Is on the Crosstown Craft BBQ Menu

The menu focuses on Texas-style barbecue. Brisket and ribs are the stars. In addition, the team plans to serve rotating dishes on different days of the week.

  • Core Menu: Brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, cheddar-jalapeño sausages and pork belly burnt ends
  • Saturdays: Beef dino ribs
  • Sundays: Smoked and seared picanha
  • Rotating Specials: Smoked beef cheeks and smoked lamb shanks have been mentioned as possible specials

To keep up with demand, Silva upgraded to a 750-gallon smoker. He also plans to add a rotisserie smoker that can cook up to 1,700 pounds of meat at once. “It will allow us to finally feed Toronto’s growing appetite for real Texas barbecue,” he said.
