Falmouth Nova Scotia Crash: Police Were Searching for Vehicle Before Fatal Collision
A devastating crash on Highway 101 near Falmouth, Nova Scotia, claimed five lives and left one person in critical condition on Saturday night. RCMP confirmed that before the fatal collision, police had received a tip about possible impaired driving involving the same vehicle.

Timeline of the Incident
- 7:20 p.m. AT: RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver in a blue 2014 Honda Civic near Grand Pré.
- Officers from Kings and West Hants counties conducted an extensive search but could not locate the car.
- 11:12 p.m. AT: The same vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a Nissan Sentra on Highway 101, travelling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes.
The crash occurred about 1.5 kilometres from Exit 7, between Hantsport and Falmouth.

- 43-year-old man from Falmouth (deceased)
- 45-year-old woman from Falmouth (deceased)
Nissan Sentra:
- 45-year-old woman from Oxford, N.S. (deceased)
- 58-year-old man from Nappan, N.S. (deceased)
- 50-year-old man from Oxford, N.S. (deceased after hospital transfer)
- 29-year-old man from British Columbia (critically injured, airlifted to hospital)
Police Appeal for Public Assistance
The RCMP are asking for:
- Witnesses who saw the blue 2014 Honda Civic (licence plate HLF590) before the crash.
- Anyone with dashcam footage from the area on Saturday, May 10, to contact West Hants RCMP at 902-798-2207 or Crime Stoppers.

West Hants Mayor Abraham Zebian expressed deep sorrow, calling the crash a “tragedy for the entire community.” He emphasized the emotional impact on Falmouth and surrounding towns, which have lost beloved residents.

RCMP collision reconstruction officers spent Sunday at the crash site gathering evidence. Investigators continue to determine the events leading up to the collision, including whether impaired driving was a factor.
