LAIKA’s WILDWOOD Exhibit Takes TIFF Visitors Behind the Scenes
Film fans attending TIFF will have a chance to step inside the world of WILDWOOD before the animated adventure reaches audiences.
VVS Films and LAIKA, the Oscar-nominated studio behind CORALINE, are bringing the public exhibit WILDWOOD: Inside the Performance to Portland Square Gallery, where visitors can get a closer look at the detailed work behind the upcoming stop-motion film.
The exhibit will offer more than a look at the finished movie. Guests can see the real puppets and sets made for the production, along with behind-the-scenes displays that show how LAIKA created the film’s visual world.
A Closer Look at WILDWOOD
WILDWOOD is described as a sweeping story about love and sacrifice, told through stop-motion animation and an all-star voice cast. The film comes from LAIKA, the studio known for its Oscar-nominated work on CORALINE.
During TIFF, VVS Films and LAIKA will give audiences a preview of the movie through a TIFF Summit panel. The public exhibit adds another way to explore the production, shifting attention from the finished screen to the physical craft that goes into making stop-motion animation.
Visitors will be able to view actual production pieces rather than only promotional material. Puppets and sets created for WILDWOOD will be displayed alongside behind-the-scenes features for a closer look at the work involved in bringing the story to life.
For media, the experience begins ahead of the public opening with an exclusive preview.
Behind the Scenes, Up Close
The September 9 media preview is designed to give press guests time to capture content without the crowds expected during public hours. It also creates an opportunity to speak directly with Brad Schiff, LAIKA’s Head of Animation, about the production.

- Special Access: LAIKA Head of Animation Brad Schiff will be available for on-camera interviews during the media preview
As the organizers describe the experience, the exhibit is centered on “the artistry behind the production,” giving TIFF audiences a different way to connect with WILDWOOD.
