Linc Closure Rescheduled: Hamilton Shifts Parkway Maintenance to May 30–June 2
The City of Hamilton has postponed its planned Linc closure for annual maintenance due to this weekend’s wet weather forecast and to minimize traffic disruption. The Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (Linc) will now shut down in both directions from Friday, May 30 to Monday, June 2, 2025.

The decision also follows the Ministry of Transportation’s move to reschedule maintenance on the QEW Burlington Skyway, which was initially set for the same weekend.
New Linc Closure Schedule
Drivers in Hamilton should plan ahead as the Linc will be completely closed for three days:
- Eastbound Closure:
From Golf Links Road to the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway off-ramp
May 30 (8 a.m.) to June 2 (5 a.m.) - Westbound Closure:
From Red Hill Valley Parkway to Mohawk Road
May 30 (10 a.m.) to June 2 (5 a.m.)
Detour routes will be available via Mohawk Road and Stone Church Road. Expect heavier traffic on alternate routes.
Why Was the Linc Closure Postponed?
Two key reasons:

- Safety First:
Rainy conditions this weekend raised concerns over worksite safety. - Traffic Coordination:
The city coordinated with Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation to avoid overlapping closures with QEW maintenance near the Burlington Skyway.
Originally, both projects were planned for May 23–26, but have now been aligned for May 30–June 2 to reduce congestion.
What’s Included in the Linc Maintenance?
This annual project is part of Hamilton’s ongoing infrastructure improvement plan. Scheduled work includes:
- Asphalt spot repairs and resurfacing
- Graffiti removal
- Bridge and signage repairs
- Pavement markings
- Vegetation maintenance
- Catch basin cleaning
- Ditching and drainage improvements
The city encourages drivers to follow detour signs and use caution around construction areas.
Burlington Skyway Also Affected
At the same time, the Ministry of Transportation will close:
