The Power Plant Reveals Fall 2026 Season With New Exhibitions, Film Program, and Return of Power Ball
The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery is preparing for a new fall season featuring contemporary art exhibitions, a moving image program, and the return of its signature fundraiser, Power Ball.
Launching with Power Ball: The 7-Year Itch on September 17, 2026, the season will bring together artists working across photography, film, sound, sculpture, and installation. The Fall 2026 program will continue The Power Plant’s focus on connecting artists and audiences through conversations around identity, migration, memory, and place.
Located at Toronto’s waterfront, The Power Plant offers free admission to exhibitions and public programming throughout the year.
Power Ball Returns After Seven Years
The Fall 2026 season opens with the return of Power Ball, The Power Plant’s fundraising art event, after a seven-year break.
Taking place on September 17, Power Ball: The 7-Year Itch will transform the gallery into a late-night arts event featuring artist projects, live performances, music, and special programming across the building.
This year’s edition will include newly commissioned works by Rah Eleh, Ella Gonzales, and Sami Tsang. The evening will also feature performances from:

Sharon Lockhart: Fogo
The Power Plant will present Fogo, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Sharon Lockhart.
Created over four summers on Newfoundland’s Fogo Island, the exhibition brings together photography and film through two connected works: Fogo Island Portrait Studio and WINDWARD.
The photographs feature young residents from Fogo Island, while the film installation follows the same participants alongside the island’s landscapes, climate, and geological features.
The exhibition continues Lockhart’s long-term artistic focus on relationships between people, locations, and time.
Presented with The Vega Foundation, the exhibition includes support from Shorefast/Fogo Island Arts, the National Gallery of Canada, Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and additional partners.
Zadie Xa With Benito Mayor Vallejo Present New Toronto Exhibition
The Power Plant will also present the first major Toronto solo exhibition by Vancouver-born, UK-based artist Zadie Xa, created with longtime collaborator Benito Mayor Vallejo.
Titled Moonlit Confessions Across Deep Sea Echoes: Your Ancestors Are Whales, and Earth Remembers Everything, the exhibition combines painting, murals, sound, and sculpture.
One central work features more than 600 brass bells suspended from the gallery ceiling in the shape of a conch shell. The installation connects the artists’ ongoing interests in Korean mythology, folklore, diasporic identity, and marine ecology with Toronto’s waterfront setting.
The exhibition was developed in partnership with Esker Foundation in Calgary and PHI in Montréal.
Owner of a Lonely Heart Film Program
Alongside the exhibitions, The Power Plant will present Owner of a Lonely Heart, a moving image program created in partnership with The Vega Foundation.
The program features recent works by:

- Alia Farid
- Hope Pearl Strickland
- Yuyan Wang
Presented in the gallery’s second-floor space, the 80-minute program examines connections between materials, labour, ecosystems, and global economies.
