The term “Lolita” comes from a novel by Vladimir Nabokov, which tells the story of a man who becomes obsessed with a 12-year-old girl. The name is very controversial because of the story’s disturbing content.

The video quickly spread on social media, shocking and upsetting many people with the driver’s behavior. They felt it was inappropriate for someone who transports children to dress like that and use such a name for the bus route.

Action Taken by the School Board

After the video went viral, the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) took action. A spokesperson for the board confirmed that the driver worked for a third-party company. The board removed the driver from their duties at St. Michael’s and other schools in the district immediately. The transportation company promised that this wouldn’t happen again.

The YCDSB also reminded the public that all bus drivers in Ontario must undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check to ensure they are safe to work with children. The board followed all safety procedures after learning about the incident.
