660,000 Safety Outlets Recalled Across Canada Due to Fire Risk
Health Canada has issued an urgent recall for more than 660,000 Electrical Devices GFCI safety outlets sold at Home Hardware. These outlets, which were sold across Canada from 2015 to May 2025, are being recalled due to a significant fire hazard.

Faulty Screws Posing Fire Hazard
The recall affects three white models of Electrical Devices Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) safety outlets. The problem lies in the terminal screws of the outlets, which may not tighten properly. This defect could cause the outlets to overheat, leading to a potential fire hazard. Health Canada has received 812 reports of faulty screws and one fire report that caused property damage, though no injuries have been reported.
The affected outlets are marked with the letters “TR” on the front and “LGL” stamped on the back. Consumers can identify the affected products by their UPC codes: 822733135640, 822733135626, and 822733135664.
Immediate Action Required
The outlets pose a risk, so we strongly advise consumers who purchased them to stop using them immediately. Health Canada urges consumers to contact Unison Ridge, the distributor of the outlets, for instructions on how to safely uninstall the products. A full refund is available by returning the recalled outlets to any Home Hardware store.
