Google, Spotify, Amazon Resolve Widespread June 2025 Outage
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, major tech platforms including Google Cloud, Spotify, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced widespread outage that disrupted access to several popular services like Gmail, Google Search, Discord, Snapchat, and more.
Outage tracking site DownDetector recorded over 27,000 reports for Spotify and more than 13,000 for Google Cloud at the peak of the incident. Reports of issues started around 2 PM ET and affected both individual users and businesses across North America and beyond.
What Happened?
Google acknowledged the issue in an update around 4:16 PM ET. The company stated it had identified the root cause and had implemented fixes. While most regions recovered quickly, services in us-central1 and multi-region/us zones saw a delayed recovery.
Several Google Cloud products, including Vertex AI, Dataflow, and Personalized Service Health, remained partially impacted even as other platforms came back online.

Many users took to social media to share outage reports, while companies like Snapchat and OpenAI acknowledged the disruptions on their official channels. AWS also saw increased DownDetector activity, although Amazon clarified that no major AWS-wide issue had occurred, suggesting that isolated internet provider issues were likely the cause.
Current Status
By Friday morning (June 13), DownDetector showed fewer than 10 reports per platform, indicating that most services had returned to normal. Google confirmed the final resolution at 9:18 PM ET Thursday night.
Neither Google nor Spotify has issued a public statement explaining the full scope of the outage.
