Air Canada New Cabin Designs Bring Lie-Flat Luxury to the A321XLR

Air Canada and Collins Aerospace officially unveiled groundbreaking seating solutions for the airline’s incoming fleet of Airbus A321XLR aircraft at the 2026 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg.

These highly anticipated Air Canada new cabin designs promise to completely transform the passenger experience. The airline selected custom Aurora suites for its premium business class and Meridian+ seats for the economy cabin, bringing true widebody comfort to a single-aisle narrowbody jet.

The Aurora Suite: A Premium Retreat in the Sky

Air Canada collaborated closely with Collins Aerospace and design partner Acumen to craft 14 exclusive lie-flat Aurora suites. The design team purposefully angled these suites to maximize personal living space and privacy for every premium traveler in a comfortable two-abreast layout.

Passengers will immediately notice the distinctly warm, inviting palette upon boarding. Elegant lighting naturally highlights bespoke cabin materials, including rich wood, stone, and striking bronze accents.

John Moody, Air Canada’s Managing Director of On-Board Product, noted that the airline aimed to create an exceptionally inviting and highly personal space. The proprietary shape of the Collins Aerospace Aurora suite fits the exact dimensions of the A321XLR, giving passengers the absolute comfort they expect on demanding intercontinental journeys.

Enhancing the Main Cabin with Meridian+ Seats

The airline certainly did not overlook its economy passengers during this 30-aircraft fleet upgrade. The remaining 168 guests will enjoy the newly contoured Collins Aerospace Meridian+ seats.

Designers utilized traditional widebody design principles to build an architecture that reclaims vital area for passenger hips, knees, and elbows. An articulating seat diaphragm subtly flexes to adapt to the passenger’s body, significantly boosting overall physical comfort on long-haul flights.

Furthermore, Air Canada upgraded the seatback interface across the entire main cabin. This enhancement optimizes personal power supply access, brilliant 4K OLED inflight entertainment viewing, and personal item stowage.

Upcoming Routes for Canadian and Global Travelers

Air Canada currently holds firm orders for 30 Airbus A321XLR jets. The first of these state-of-the-art aircraft will officially enter commercial service this summer.

Aviation analytics indicate the airline will initially deploy the A321XLR on popular domestic Canadian routes to familiarize crews. Inaugural flights will launch out of Montreal, connecting eager passengers directly to Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Soon after the domestic rollout, Air Canada will leverage the jet’s impressive transatlantic range to aggressively expand its international network. Travelers can expect exciting new non-stop connections spanning across Europe, including highly anticipated direct flights to Palma de Mallorca and Toulouse, permanently redefining long-haul narrowbody travel.
