British Columbia is having a lucky streak. Just one week after a Surrey man claimed a record-breaking $80 million Lotto Max jackpot prize, another winning ticket worth $40 million has been sold—this time in Burnaby.

The B.C. Lottery Corporation (BCLC) confirmed that the Lotto Max ticket purchased for the May 23, 2025 draw matched all seven winning numbers: 13, 19, 23, 26, 36, 39, and 47.

The Odds Are Slim—But Burnaby Hit Big

According to BCLC, the odds of hitting the Lotto Max jackpot are 1 in 33,294,800 per $5 play. Despite the steep odds, one lucky player in Burnaby now holds a ticket worth $40 million.

Winners Have 52 Weeks to Claim

The winning ticket holder has one year from the draw date to claim their prize. The winner has not yet come forward.

Follows Canada’s Largest Solo Jackpot

This massive win comes just days after Justin Simporios, a 35-year-old Surrey father, collected his $80 million cheque on May 9. That win marked the biggest lottery jackpot ever awarded to a single person in Canadian history.

Simporios, who bought a Quick Pick ticket, said he only plays when the jackpot hits $40 million or more—ironically, the same amount as the new Burnaby win.

B.C. Lotto Players Are On a Roll

So far in 2025, Lotto Max players in B.C. have redeemed over $102 million in prizes, showing a banner year for the province’s lottery fans.
