Canada’s Wonderland Delays AlpenFury Launch Coaster Opening
Canada’s Wonderland was all set to debut its highly anticipated AlpenFury launch coaster this spring, claiming the title of Canada’s longest, tallest, and fastest launch coaster, with the most inversions of any roller coaster in the world. However, delays have marred the opening, and the theme park is pushing back the planned media preview and opening dates.

AlpenFury’s Setback
AlpenFury was originally set to debut in the spring as a thrilling new addition to Canada’s Wonderland, promising nine inversions and speeds up to 115 km/h as it launched from the iconic Wonder Mountain. However, the park missed its target opening with the arrival of summer. It postponed the media preview, planned for July 3, to allow more time for testing and commissioning.
“We determined some additional time is needed to complete testing and commissioning,” said Grace Peacock, a spokesperson for the park. Testing for the coaster began in mid-June, but as of late June, the process was still ongoing, and a new opening date had not yet been set. The theme park assures guests that they will be notified of the launch via their social media channels once testing is complete.
Why the Delay?
Rumors of construction delays had already begun circulating, and concerns grew as track sections were reportedly disassembled and reinstalled. The coaster, designed by Premier Rides, is a dual-launch roller coaster with two separate launches. One propels riders up the mountain, while the other sends them hurtling out of the summit, making it the most ambitious coaster in the park’s history.
However, these technical elements likely contributed to the extra time required for proper testing and final adjustments.

What to Expect from AlpenFury

Once it opens, AlpenFury promises to be one of the most thrilling rides in the world. The kilometre-long track twists and turns through Wonder Mountain, featuring nine inversions. Riders will experience the Fire Serpent Roll, Skyflyer Loop, and the unique Ice Winder Roll, delivering extreme weightlessness and intense spinning moments.
The coaster reaches a height of 50 metres (164 feet) and a drop of 47 metres (154 feet), making it one of the tallest and most exciting coasters in Canada.
What’s Next?
The AlpenFury delay marks a frustrating setback for the many thrill-seekers eagerly anticipating this world-record-breaking ride. Canada’s Wonderland is continuing with other plans for the park and promises to announce the new opening date soon. In the meantime, visitors will have to wait for their chance to experience AlpenFury’s jaw-dropping inversions and high-speed thrills.
