Cornerstone Drive Burlington: Two Dead, One Injured in Police-Involved Incident
A tragic overnight incident at a home on Cornerstone Drive in Burlington has left two men dead and a woman injured, prompting dual investigations by Halton Regional Police and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU). The situation unfolded just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance. Authorities say the event is considered isolated and there is no threat to public safety.
What Happened?
Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Halton police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance at the residence. Upon arrival, officers encountered a chaotic scene. According to the SIU, one man — later identified as 28 years old — fled upstairs and was found with a self-inflicted injury. Despite attempts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man was also found dead inside the home. His identity and cause of death have not yet been released.
A woman was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not confirmed her relationship to the deceased men.
Investigation Underway
Due to the involvement of police during the incident, the SIU has invoked its mandate. The watchdog agency investigates all interactions involving police that result in death, serious injury, firearm discharge at a person, or allegations of sexual assault.
