Brevis Shines in a Match-Winning 125 Knock

Brevis’s powerful innings helped South Africa post an imposing 218-7, after they were struggling at 57-3. His 126-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs (31 off 22 balls) was key, coming in just 9.3 overs. The pair’s 100-run stand was made in 44 balls, with Brevis hitting a six after being dropped on 56.

Brevis’s century, scored in just 41 balls, is the second-fastest in South African T20 history. It was his first international century and turned the momentum in South Africa’s favor after their disappointing performance in the series opener.

Australia’s Chase Falls Short

Australia’s chase of 219 never really took off. The early dismissals of Travis Head (5) and Cameron Green (9) placed the team under pressure. Tim David, who had been in superb form with an 83 in the first game, blasted 50 from 24 balls but fell just as he seemed to gain control. Australia’s middle order collapsed, and they were eventually bowled out for 165 in 18 overs.

South Africa’s bowlers, led by Corbin Bosch and Kwena Maphaka, were clinical, taking three wickets each to finish the job. The win ended Australia’s nine-match T20 winning streak and evened the series at 1-1, setting up a thrilling decider in Cairns on Saturday.
