Igloo Recalls Over 1 Million Coolers Due to Handle Hazard – Safety Warning
Igloo is recalling more than 1 million of its 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The recall follows reports of fingertip amputations, fractures, and lacerations caused by the cooler’s tow handle.
Reason for the Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall notice stating that the cooler’s tow handle can pinch fingers against the body of the cooler, leading to serious injuries. Igloo has received 12 injury reports in the U.S., including cases of amputations. No injuries have been reported in Canada or Mexico.
Affected Products
The recalled 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers were sold between 2019 and January 2025 at major retailers, including Costco, Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon, and Igloo’s website. The coolers cost between $80 and $140 and were available in multiple colors, all featuring the “IGLOO” logo.
Consumers can identify the affected products by model number and date code, which are located on the bottom of the cooler. The date code uses an arrow to indicate the month and the last two digits of the year to indicate the manufacturing date. Only coolers manufactured before January 2024 are part of the recall.
