To qualify, candidates needed:

  • A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 534
  • An Express Entry profile submitted before 6:22 a.m. UTC on August 3, 2025

This is the second Express Entry draw in August, following the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) selection on August 6, where 225 invitations were issued with a CRS cut-off of 739.

Express Entry Draw Trends in 2025

So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 50,628 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through Express Entry. The focus has primarily been on PNP candidates, followed by CEC, French-language proficiency, and category-based draws for priority occupations such as healthcare, social services, and education.

  • June 26 – 3,000 ITAs, CRS 521

Understanding the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The CEC is one of the core Express Entry programs, designed for candidates who already have Canadian work experience. It’s often considered a faster route to permanent residency for those who have studied or worked in Canada.

Candidates are scored using the CRS, which awards points for factors such as:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Canadian and foreign work experience
  • Official language proficiency
  • Additional factors like a provincial nomination or family ties in Canada

Changes Affecting Express Entry in 2025

On March 25, 2025, IRCC removed “job offer points” from the CRS for most categories. Only senior management positions (Major Group 00) retain up to 200 points, and other skilled occupations retain up to 50 points. This change affects both current and future candidates, potentially lowering CRS scores across the board.

Looking Ahead

With multiple category-based and program-specific draws expected in the coming months, candidates are encouraged to:

  • Keep their Express Entry profiles updated
  • Monitor draw trends
  • Explore PNP opportunities for additional CRS points

Given the competitive CRS scores in recent CEC draws, having strong language results and Canadian work experience remains key to receiving an invitation.
