Marina Pinnacle Skyscraper Fire Forces Evacuation of 3,820 Residents
A catastrophic fire broke out at the Marina Pinnacle building, a 67-story skyscraper located in Dubai’s Marina district, on Friday, June 13, 2025. The blaze rapidly spread through the upper floors, forcing the evacuation of all 3,820 residents. Emergency crews worked tirelessly for six hours to bring the inferno under control, which was successfully extinguished in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Fire and Evacuation Efforts
The fire began around 9:30 PM local time, with eyewitnesses describing thick smoke and flames emerging from several floors. Despite the chaos, all 3,820 residents of the building were safely evacuated without any reported injuries. The Dubai Media Office confirmed that the emergency teams, including ambulance and medical staff, were on site to provide physical and psychological support to those affected by the fire.
“We prioritize the safety and well-being of all residents. Full medical and mental support has been offered to the safely evacuated residents,” the Dubai Media Office stated. Authorities are working with the building’s developer to arrange temporary housing for the displaced residents.
Residents’ Accounts of the Harrowing Escape
Several residents shared their terrifying experiences. One tenant recalled waking up to a pungent smell of smoke filling the room. Another resident, who lived on the 24th floor, initially thought the burning smell was from something inside their apartment. However, after discovering the stairwell filled with smoke, they were forced to take the elevator to escape.
Despite the terrifying experience, all residents were able to exit the building safely. Many are now staying in temporary accommodations, but questions remain about when they will be able to return home.

The Cause of the Fire and Previous Incidents
At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown, and it is unclear where exactly the fire originated within the building. This incident is not the first fire at the Marina Pinnacle; in 2015, a fire started in the kitchen of an apartment on the 47th floor, which spread to the 48th floor before being contained by fire crews.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns over fire safety in high-rise buildings, especially in densely populated areas.
Next Steps for Affected Residents
As the investigation continues, the building’s developer and local authorities are working to provide displaced residents with the support they need, including temporary housing and emergency services. While the fire has been contained, the rebuilding process and return to normalcy for residents are yet to be determined.
