Stacey Soans Connects Golf, Confidence, and Leadership in Debut Book “Fairways & Femininity”

Golf can teach lessons that reach far beyond the course.

Toronto professional golfer and Human Resources leader Stacey Soans explores that idea in her debut book, Fairways & Femininity, published May 1, 2025.

The book looks at how experiences in golf can shape skills that matter in the workplace, from building confidence to making thoughtful decisions.

Drawing on her work in both golf and Human Resources, Soans provides a view of leadership through the lens of a sport built on preparation, focus, and personal responsibility.

Golf as a Leadership Lesson

Fairways & Femininity delves into the ways golf can develop habits that support strong leadership. The sport calls for players to prepare before each round, think through their options, adjust when conditions change, and take responsibility for their choices.

Soans connects those experiences to professional life, where leaders need to make decisions, communicate clearly, adapt to new situations, and build trust with others.

The book also looks at golf as a way to develop confidence and relationships. For Soans, the value of the sport does not stop when a round ends. Skills gained on the course can influence how people approach conversations, challenges, and opportunities at work.

Where Golf Meets the Workplace

Soans brings two different professional worlds into the book. Her experience as a professional golfer gives her a direct understanding of the discipline and strategy involved in the game, while her Human Resources background has influenced her knowledge of workplace culture and leadership development.

This gives Fairways & Femininity a focus that goes beyond the technical side of golf. The book considers how the sport can create opportunities for connection and personal growth, as well as showing how those experiences may translate into professional settings.

Communication is another central part of that connection. In business, strong relationships may depend on the ability to listen, communicate ideas, and make decisions. Soans examines how golf can support those skills while encouraging women to approach opportunities in ways that feel authentic to them.

Confidence On and Off the Course

For Soans, golf represents more than competition. It can become a space where people build relationships, test their decision-making, and gain confidence through experience.

“Golf is more than a game; it is a language of confidence, connection, and opportunity,” says Soans.

She describes Fairways & Femininity as an exploration of “what becomes possible when women learn to speak that language on their own terms.”

The message places women at the center of the conversation, focusing on how they can use lessons from the sport while developing their own approach to leadership.
