And that’s exactly why this guide to things to do in Toronto this week (December 29–January 4) exists. Additionally, I’ve included a couple of options just outside the city in case you prefer a quick change of scenery.

2026 New Year’s Eve at Mississauga Celebration Square

The night starts with NYE Jr., which gives kids their own early countdown and confetti moment before bedtime. Then the main stage takes over with live performers, food trucks, photo ops, and skating on the outdoor rink. Everything leads to the big firework finale.

If you want one last “wow” moment before 2026 properly kicks in, a quick road trip to Niagara Falls will do it. Millions of lights and huge displays stretch across the area, and you can make an entire evening of it.
