Toronto has a new way to order tiramisu: scoop exactly what you want, mix the flavours and pay by weight. Mirello, a new café at 60 Danforth Road, opened August 15 with what it describes as the city’s first pay-by-weight tiramisu bar.

Instead of choosing a pre-cut slice, customers take a container, serve the flavours they want and pay for the final weight. Tiramisu is priced at $9 per 100 grams, giving visitors the option to combine several varieties in one order. There is one important counter rule: once a scoop lands in the container, it cannot be returned.

The rotating selection starts with a classic tiramisu developed with an Italian pastry chef. Other reported flavours include pistachio made with house-prepared paste and roasted pistachio pieces, Lotus Biscoff, strawberry, mango with Ataulfo mango coulis, Earl Grey and Bangladeshi tea. Availability may change from day to day, so customers looking for a specific flavour should check the café’s social feed before travelling.

The self-serve setup solves a familiar dessert problem: picking between classic coffee and cocoa or a newer fruit, nut or tea flavour. A few smaller scoops let customers compare flavours without ordering several full portions. It also means the price can rise quickly, especially with a large container, so watching the scale is part of the ordering process.

Mirello also sells gelato by weight at $5.50 per 100 grams. Drinks include cold brew and iced matcha options finished with fruit and cold foam, positioning the shop as more than a takeout dessert counter.

The opening adds a new format to Toronto’s growing lineup of single-focus dessert shops. Pay-by-weight service is familiar at frozen-yogurt bars and prepared-food counters, but applying it to tiramisu puts customization ahead of the usual plated slice. It also makes texture important: each variety has to hold its layers while customers portion it themselves.

Mirello is located at 60 Danforth Road, near the Danforth Road and Birchmount Road area in Scarborough. Current hours, daily flavours and opening updates are posted on Mirello’s Instagram. Additional opening details were reported by Streets of Toronto, and visitors can use the TTC trip planner to check transit options.
