This year’s festival spreads its lineup across the Main Stage, Bass Stage and Sirkus Stage.

The artist list covers several sides of electronic music. Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, FISHER, Charlotte de Witte, Sara Landry and ILLENIUM are among the names scheduled for the weekend.

Fans can also catch Subtronics, Black Tiger Sex Machine, SLANDER, Ray Volpe, Crankdat and other acts across the festival.

Kx5 is another name to watch on the bill. The project brings deadmau5 and Kaskade together, adding another major set to the three-day schedule.

Other announced artists include ARTBAT, Boys Noize, Disco Lines, Galantis, KREAM, Lilly Palmer, Lost Frequencies, Maddix, Mau P, Miss Monique, Tchami and Whethan.

Exact set times can affect your entire festival day, especially when two artists you want to see land in similar time slots. Check VELD’s official schedule closer to the event before deciding which stage you are heading to first.

General admission to VELD is open to all ages.

VIP passes are restricted to guests who are 19 or older. The VIP pass includes access to a separate tented area with a view of the Main Stage, a VIP bar, VIP washrooms, water refill stations and faster festival entry.

Bottle service requires a VIP festival ticket plus a separate table reservation.

Three-day general admission passes are currently listed from CA$471.20, while three-day VIP passes are listed at CA$657.19. Single-day passes are also available for each day of the festival.

Keep an eye on the ticket tier before checking out. A lower-priced tier can sell through, which means the next available ticket may cost more.

What Can You Bring to VELD?

VELD has a specific list of items guests can and cannot bring into Downsview Park.

Empty plastic water bottles and qualifying empty CamelBaks are permitted. Fanny packs, hats, sunglasses and earplugs are also allowed.

Certain non-professional cameras are permitted, but professional photography equipment and other restricted items may not make it through security.

One simple move before leaving home: check the current VELD Festival Guide. It can save you from reaching security with something that has to be taken back or left behind.

VELD Is a Cashless Festival

Leave the plan to pay with cash at the door.

VELD operates as a cashless festival, with debit and credit cards accepted for purchases inside the grounds. Limited prepaid Visa cards can also be purchased with cash.

Having tap enabled on your card or phone can also make festival purchases easier when lines start building.

Guests must also register their festival wristbands before entering.

Can You Leave VELD and Come Back?

No. VELD does not permit re-entry.

Once you leave the festival grounds, you cannot use the same day’s admission to enter again. That makes it worth checking your bag, phone charge and other essentials before going through the gates.

The festival also operates rain or shine. Current ticket terms state that weather does not qualify tickets for a refund.

Getting to VELD at Downsview Park

Taking public transit can be one of the simpler ways to reach the festival.

VELD directs TTC riders to Downsview Park Station. From there, the festival says to walk west along Sheppard Avenue for about 10 minutes toward the Festival Terrace, with the main entrance gates on Carl Hall Road.

That route can also help you avoid having to sort out parking around the festival grounds.

If you are travelling from another part of the GTA, plan the trip home before arriving. Large crowds leaving at roughly the same time can make the end of the night much busier than the trip in.

A Few Things to Do Before You Go

A little planning can make the weekend much easier.

Check your ticket and wristband information before leaving, review the permitted-items list and take a screenshot of any information you may need when mobile service gets busy.

It is also worth checking the daily schedule before entering. With three stages running throughout the festival, deciding on a few priority sets ahead of time can cut down on last-minute stage hopping.

And bring ear protection. Three days beside festival speakers is a lot for anyone’s ears.
