WWE Releases Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and More in May 2025 Cuts
The wave of internal cuts at WWE has reached its superstars—and it’s already sending shockwaves through the wrestling world. According to multiple reports, WWE has released several major talents, including Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and Shayna Baszler, as part of ongoing cost-cutting efforts.

This comes just days after corporate layoffs affected several departments. Now, the talent roster is also being reshaped.
Talent Cuts Confirmed, More Expected
The initial list of released talent includes:
- Braun Strowman
- Dakota Kai
- Shayna Baszler
- Kayden Carter
- Katana Chance
While not originally listed, NXT’s Cora Jade hinted at her release on social media, posting she had “a lot of free time.” PW Insider later confirmed her departure.
According to Fightful Select, the wave of cuts may not be over. Thy are expected to continue trimming talent, particularly from its NXT division.
NXT Roster Takes a Hit
Since the update, more NXT stars have reportedly been let go, including:
- Gigi Dolin
- Riley Osborne
- Eddy Thorpe
- Jakara Jackson
- Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)
- Oro Mensah
- Javier Bernal
Some contracts may not have been renewed rather than formally terminated, suggesting quiet exits without public acknowledgment.

Not All Cryptic Posts Mean Releases
Amid the chaos, several superstars fueled speculation by posting cryptic messages. But not all were released.

- Chelsea Green, Shotzi, and Austin Theory are reportedly still with WWE, despite vague social posts that hinted at exits.
- Green posted a “farewell address” but is still scheduled for Friday’s SmackDown tapings.
- Shotzi’s emotional video gained praise internally, and Theory’s statement was not connected to any release plans.
WWE last conducted mass talent cuts in February 2025, with names like Blair Davenport and Cedric Alexander released.
