Major Milk Brands Recalled in Canada Over ‘Possible Glass’ Contamination
A nationwide food safety alert has been issued for Canadian households. Several popular dairy products have been pulled from grocery store shelves after reports that the beverages may contain pieces of glass.
If you have recently purchased dairy products, you are being urged to check your refrigerators. The recent milk recalled in Canada involves two-litre cartons from widely recognized brands, including Farmers, Natrel, and Québon.
The voluntary recall was officially initiated by Agropur’s official press release regarding the Bedford, Nova Scotia plant, Canada’s largest dairy co-operative, following a consumer complaint. This triggered an immediate internal investigation at the company’s manufacturing facility, where the potential risk of glass-like materials was identified.

Which Milk Brands Are Recalled in Canada?
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) Class 1 recall notice confirms they are currently overseeing a rigorous food safety investigation to ensure all affected batches are removed from the marketplace.
While some products were distributed specifically in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec, the Natrel brand products were distributed nationally, meaning consumers in Toronto, Ontario, and across all provinces should be on alert.

- Farmers 1% & 2% Partly Skimmed Milk: Distributed in Nova Scotia and P.E.I.
- Farmers 1% Chocolate Partly Skimmed Milk: Distributed in Nova Scotia and P.E.I.

(Note: Consumers are encouraged to check the exact best-before dates, UPC codes, and product batch numbers directly on the official Government of Canada recall page for Farmers, Québon, and Natrel products for the most accurate matching).
What Consumers Should Do Next

Agropur has released a public statement confirming that the situation is now under control and that they are fully cooperating with the CFIA. However, health officials stress that food safety is the top priority.
If you discover one of the recalled items in your fridge, do not consume, serve, or distribute the milk. The CFIA advises Canadians to either securely throw the affected cartons in the garbage or return them directly to the grocery store or location where they were purchased for a full refund.
