Toronto Man Wins $1 Million on His Birthday with Encore Lottery Ticket
A Toronto man’s birthday took an unforgettable turn when he won $1 million on an Encore lottery ticket, making his special day even more remarkable.
Pane Tan, a landscaper who has been playing Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) games for over 30 years, matched all seven Encore numbers in the exact order during the April 18 Pick-4 draw. After scanning his ticket at a local retailer, Tan couldn’t believe his eyes when the screen displayed the $1-million prize.
Later that day, Tan returned home to yet another surprise: a birthday party organized by his family. He was stunned twice in one day: first by the life-changing lottery win, then by the heartfelt surprise celebration.
“I was stunned again,” Tan recalled. “I had two unforgettable moments that day.”
A father of three and grandfather of two, Tan has been a loyal player of Pick-4, Pick-3, and Poker Lotto games, regularly adding the Encore option for an additional dollar. This is his first big win, and it’s one he plans to celebrate with his family.
Tan, who purchased his winning ticket at Min-A-Mart on Wilson Avenue in Toronto, plans to share his newfound wealth with his children and take a well-deserved vacation. His son and other family members shared in the excitement of the news.
Winning has given Tan a “very exciting feeling,” and he’s ready to enjoy the next chapter of his life with his loved ones.
