Bomb Threats Lead to Evacuations and Delays

NAV Canada, which manages air traffic control operations across the country, confirmed that they received multiple bomb threats on the morning of July 3, 2025. As a precaution, several control towers and facilities were evacuated. This led to temporary ground stops and flight delays at the affected airports.

“All employees at impacted locations are safe,” NAV Canada said in a public statement. “We are working closely with authorities to ensure the safety of passengers and personnel.”

Operations Resuming, but Delays Continue

By mid-morning, some airport operations resumed, but delays remained likely, especially for early flights. Officials advised travellers to check with their airlines for real-time updates.

At Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, flights resumed after a temporary evacuation of the NAV Canada control tower. Ottawa International Airport also confirmed it was investigating a security incident, though it provided few public details.

Police and Authorities Continue Investigations

The Ottawa Police Service confirmed it is working with the airport to investigate the threat, but did not release more information. Similar investigations are underway at the other airports.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had briefly issued ground stops at both Ottawa and Montreal, but later lifted them.

No Threats Reported at Other Canadian Airports

NAV Canada did not report any threats at St. John’s International Airport or other eastern airports. However, officials advised travellers with flights scheduled throughout the day to stay alert and check for updates.

As of now, no one has reported any injuries or physical damage. Authorities have not yet identified the source of the bomb threats, and they continue to investigate.
