Here’s What Ontario’s Summer Weather Will Look Like in July 2025
If you’re planning a trip, outdoor festival, or cottage weekend in Ontario this July, expect plenty of summer weather heat—and not just your average summer warmth. According to updated forecasts from both The Weather Network and Environment Canada, Ontario is on track for a hotter-than-normal summer stretch, especially through the remainder of July and into August.

July is historically the warmest month of the year in Canada, and in 2025, it’s expected to fully live up to that reputation.
Where Ontario Will Sizzle the Most
Southern Ontario, including Toronto, Windsor, and London, will likely feel the brunt of the heat. Daytime highs will hover above average, and humidity will keep nights feeling warm and sticky. Some areas, like Windsor and southwestern Ontario, are forecasted to feel temperatures that surge past 40°C with humidex included.
In northern Ontario, communities like Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie will also see higher-than-normal temperatures. Thunder Bay, in particular, could experience extended dry spells, while areas further east (like Sudbury) may see frequent humidity-driven storms.
Heat Will Come in Waves, but Dry Spells Too
While extreme heat will be the dominant pattern, forecasters note that cooler stretches will still cycle through, bringing some relief. The heat is expected to shift between regions, meaning no single area will experience uninterrupted sweltering days for the entire month.

And while precipitation will sit around normal levels for most of Ontario, summer storms will be localized and intense. In other words, one town may see torrential rain while another stays completely dry. The GTA is no exception—expect unpredictability, with some areas missing storms altogether.
Wildfire Risks Still Linger for the North
One concern heading into late July and August is the increased wildfire risk in northern Ontario. Hot, dry air in northwestern Ontario could create the ideal conditions for wildfires, especially west of Lake Superior. Smoke could drift into southern regions, potentially affecting air quality in cities like Toronto for days at a time.
Plan for Heat, Humidity, and Pop-Up Storms
While early June may have brought cool mornings and soggy weekends, experts now agree: the full heat of summer is here. Ontario is sitting in a 70–90% probability zone for above-average temperatures, with consistent warmth expected through September.
Expect more frequent thunderstorms in southern and eastern Ontario, but also plenty of sunshine. So pack the sunscreen and stay hydrated—July 2025 is shaping up to be one of the hottest stretches in recent memory.
