The Incident

Claire Bell was last seen on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at around 9:45 a.m. in Montreal’s LaSalle borough. Hours later, her mother, Rachel Todd, reported the child missing at a store in Coteau-du-Lac, roughly 50 kilometers away. According to witnesses, Todd appeared frantic and unable to recall the events leading to her daughter’s disappearance.

A disturbing TikTok video posted by Todd shortly before Claire went missing shows the mother holding her daughter and making a threatening remark to the camera, with the caption: “Have you ever faced a mother who has nothing left to lose?” While the context of the video remains unclear, it has raised suspicions surrounding Todd’s role in her daughter’s disappearance.

Police Investigation

Authorities have launched an extensive search across LaSalle, Coteau-du-Lac, and nearby Ontario. They are using helicopters, drones, and tracking dogs. However, as of Tuesday morning, Claire has not been found. Police have confirmed the discovery of a dog near Highway 30, believed to be the family’s Chihuahua. They are still working to confirm if it is the same dog that was with the toddler.

Despite these efforts, police have not issued an Amber Alert, as the criteria have not been met. However, they are requesting the public’s help. They are asking anyone who may have seen a grey 2007 Ford Escape with Quebec license plate K50 FVE to come forward.

Todd’s Arrest

On Monday, June 16, 2025, Rachel Todd was arrested for child abandonment. Police have sealed her apartment in LaSalle and are questioning her in connection with Claire’s disappearance. She is scheduled to appear in court today.

The search for Claire continues, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact 911 or share anonymous tips through the Sûreté du Québec’s criminal information line.
