It wasn’t just the jackpot winner celebrating. Two other Ontario players also won $100,000 Encore prizes, and they too bought their tickets through the OLG website.

“There were an additional 439,034 prize winners across Ontario,” OLG added in their announcement.

A Jackpot Months in the Making

The Gold Ball jackpot had been growing for months, steadily climbing to the $60-million mark after several draws without a winner. The Gold Ball Draw guarantees a prize of at least $1 million, but the pot can grow past $60 million if no one matches the winning number.

This makes the May 7 win one of the most anticipated payouts in recent memory.

Other Big Wins Across Canada

The Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw also delivered:

• $5 million win in Western Canada for someone who matched all six numbers (01, 04, 08, 13, 16, 26; bonus 14).
• Three second-prize winners, including two from Ontario and one from Coquitlam, B.C., each taking home $62,774.80.
