A First-of-Its-Kind Fan Experience

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., fans will be able to play a full match on the same field used by Toronto FC and, soon, World Cup athletes. This “Open Pitch” experience is part of a special activation by Toronto FC, offering fans an authentic stadium experience.

Each selected team will get access to:

  • The visitor dressing room
  • Game-day presentation elements
  • Team branding on the scoreboard

According to Chris Shewfelt, Vice President of Business Operations at Toronto FC, this is a historic moment. “We are thrilled to be able to add TFC fans to this list of meaningful appearances and be a part of our home stadium’s story,” he shared in a press release.

How to Sign Up

Team registration is open now and runs until Wednesday, July 23 at 12 p.m. ET. Team selection is by random draw, with notifications sent on Thursday, July 24.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Teams must have 15 players (11 playing, 4 substitutes)
  • All players must be 18 years or older
  • Each participant will receive five spectator passes for friends and family
  • Choose from two time slots: 4–5 p.m. or 5–6 p.m.

To register, visit TorontoFC.ca/Open-Pitch.

Youth Soccer Included Too

Before the main activation, MLSE LaunchPad’s youth soccer program will kick off the day. This initiative supports children under 12 who face barriers to sport, offering them free access to coaching and organized play. It’s a meaningful way to include the next generation in this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Celebrate the Game at BMO Field

In addition to gameplay, the day promises giveaways, surprises, and local food options for participants and spectators. The event runs rain or shine and will be the final opportunity to play on the pitch before World Cup renovations begin.
