Why Haven’t You Received Your Rebate Yet?
Cheque Processing Times
Government officials confirmed that payments are mailed based on when you filed your taxes. If you filed later in the tax year, your rebate may take longer to arrive.
Issues with Banks Processing Cheques
Some RBC and TD Bank customers reported their rebate cheques did not clear. RBC confirmed that a small number of payments were affected due to authentication protocol issues. The bank apologized and stated the issue has been resolved.
TD Bank also acknowledged a small subset of customers faced similar problems. Both banks have credited affected accounts and refunded any fees.
If your cheque bounced or was rejected, contact your bank or Service Ontario for assistance.
How to Report a Missing or Stolen Cheque
If your cheque has not arrived or was lost, contact Service Ontario to request a replacement. You may need to verify your identity before receiving a new cheque.
Election Timing and Political Response
The $3 billion rebate program was announced in October 2024 by Premier Doug Ford. Some opposition parties criticized the timing, as Ontario is now in a snap election campaign leading up to the February 27, 2025, election.
Government officials maintain the rebate is intended to provide financial relief amid rising living costs.
