More than 200 artists are expected to take part across the weekend. As a result, visitors can expect performances throughout the day and into the evening.

Food, Vendors, and Local Businesses

Food is another major part of the festival.

Visitors can expect South Asian dishes from restaurants, chefs, and vendors connected to the Gerrard India Bazaar area and the wider community.

Alongside the food, the festival marketplace will include vendors selling clothing, jewellery, crafts, artwork, and other goods. This gives guests a chance to support local businesses while spending time in one of Toronto’s main South Asian neighbourhoods.

The TD Festival of South Asia also brings attention to the history and business community of Gerrard India Bazaar.

The Gerrard India Bazaar BIA was formed in 1981 and is one of Toronto’s older BIAs. Today, the area remains one of North America’s largest main street marketplaces for South Asian goods and services.

For the neighbourhood, the festival helps bring new visitors to Gerrard Street East while giving long-running businesses a larger public platform.
